Metal pretreatments provide foundation for Automotive OEM paint finishes. These Pretreatments add value by reacting with the metal surface to impart coatings that improve paint adhesion and corrosion performance. PPG Asian Paints Pretreatment products include Cleaners, Activating Agents, Phosphate, Sealant Rinse and Spraywash Cleaners. PPG Asian Paints’ new conditioner extends bath life, reduces sludge and improves corrosion performance.

PPG Asian Paints has introduced the first Cationic Electrocoat for automotive use .Our E-Coat has won awards for its lead-free, low VOC & high throw power. PPG Asian Paints offers its patented lead free catalyst technology with superior smoothness and exceptional corrosion resistance .

Our E-Coat technology has the ability to reduce exterior film builds while maintaining or increasing inner recess coverage. It features lower operating and material costs as well as a smaller environmental footprint and is available in versions for use over thin film Pretreatment or Zinc Phosphate.

The EPIC Electrocoat reduces OEM’s filter consumption. Dirt generation is largely reduced. The Electrocoat pumps need minimum energy for keeping the bath in circulation. Reduction in the cost/unit is a proven advantage of EPIC Electrocoat. Ancillary cost savings are attached to above EPIC Electrocoat. Electricity, DM Water consumption gets reduced.

No solvent addition required in EPIC Technology thereby reducing the VOC. Our E-Coat products with ultimate corrosion and chemical resistance serve as a benchmark for primer performance in the automotive industry. PPG Asian Paints being a leader of Automotive Coatings focuses more on eco-friendly Primer products. The Primer range includes those of Medium Solid primers and High Solid Primers. Solvent Borne Primers of PPG Asian Paints have been setting the industry standard for decades now.

The Primers are robust in technology and are used in a wide variety of application conditions and varieties of paint layering compatibilities. PPG Asian Paints offers fast curing Primers for OE Customers thereby the energy / gas consumption is minimized. Advanced Acrylic Primers are also offered to the OEM lines wherein the painting system is 3Coat 1 Bake systems i.e Primer application followed by wet on wet Basecoat and Clearcoat. The solvent borne 3C 1B Primers of PPG Asian Paints can work in a flash off of 27-29 deg C and hence no forced flash/heated flash is required to be installed by the OE customer post Primer application.

The Conventional Baked as well as 3C 1B Primers’ surfacer offers excellent stone chip resistance and smoothness for the next layer of paint. A standard White, Grey, Dark Grey, Light Grey and other colors of world class Primers are available at PPG Asian Paints as required by the Automotive OE Manufacturers. At PPG Asian Paints we also make primers which are air drying, used for touch up repair on bare metal. The Epoxy rich repair primers are applied on a small portion where heavy metal repair is done on painted substrate and in which the bare metal is exposed.

Our High Solid Basecoats have lower solvent content of organic solvents which helps the Automotive Customers’ Paintshop emit low VOC. The noise and vibration are transferred from the engine, drive train, suspension system, road noise of the tires, and flowing air, and the Underbody Sealants reduce noise transfer into the passenger compartment of the automobile Our Sealants are applied around and inside the doors, hood, trunk, and front dash, and onto the exterior and interior of metal joints and outer area of the back wheel well; application of the Sealant is accomplished either manually or with robots and prevents air and water ingress and inhibits rust formation.
