Product Stewardship Life Cycle

Product Stewardship is the management of the health, safety and environment aspects of a product throughout its life cycle (i.e. from research and development to final use and disposal).

  • It enhances product sustainability while minimizing product-related risks.
  • Product stewardship involves many different functions that “touch” the product, from raw material selection, to initial formulation, to manufacturing, to final sale and disposal. It is defined by the regulatory requirements in countries around the globe.
  • It is an important consideration across the supply chain of product.
  • It is a corporate, SBU, and individual responsibility.
